The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight's drawing has reached $555 million, giving lottery players a chance to win the biggest prize of the year.

The jackpot tonight is a $316 million cash option.

The greatest Mega Millions prize ever in Michigan and the third largest in U.S. lottery history was won by an Oakland County lottery club in January 2021.

The five white balls and the Mega ball were matched on one ticket bought in California in January, winning a $421 million jackpot. When a player in Tennessee won the $200 million jackpot in April, it was the most recent Mega Millions win.

There are nighttime Mega Millions drawings every Tuesday and Friday. Each Mega Millions game costs $2, with an extra $1 for every additional game. A "Megaplier" that boosts non-jackpot payouts by up to five times can be added by players.

On the days of the drawing, Mega Millions tickets can be bought online or at merchants in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands until 10:45 p.m.
